    Benchmark of Bayesian Optimization and Metaheuristics for Control Engineering Tuning Problems with Crash Constraints

    Controller tuning based on black-box optimization allows to automatically tune performance-critical parameters w.r.t. mostly arbitrary high-level closed-loop control objectives. However, a comprehensive benchmark of different black-box optimizers for control engineering problems has not yet been conducted. Therefore, in this contribution, 11 different versions of Bayesian optimization (BO) are compared with seven metaheuristics and other baselines on a set of ten deterministic simulative single-objective tuning problems in control. Results indicate that deterministic noise, low multimodality, and substantial areas with infeasible parametrizations (crash constraints) characterize control engineering tuning problems. Therefore, a flexible method to handle crash constraints with BO is presented. A resulting increase in sample efficiency is shown in comparison to standard BO. Furthermore, benchmark results indicate that pattern search (PS) performs best on a budget of 25 d objective function evaluations and a problem dimensionality d of d = 2. Bayesian adaptive direct search, a combination of BO and PS, is shown to be most sample efficient for 3 <= d <= 5. Using these optimizers instead of random search increases controller performance by on average 6.6% and up to 16.1%.Comment: 13 pages, 9 figure

Важливе значення ділових ігор полягає також в тому, що вони сприяють встановленню відносин співробітництва викладача і студентів, обумовлюють формування позитивного емоційно-психологічного клімату на заняттях. Розроблена і впроваджена в навчальний процес робота "Office Explorer" - це візуальний інструмент у вивченні впливу факторів виробничого середовища і трудового процесу на стан здоров'я людини і навколишнього середовища. Створена така універсальна програма, яка в ігровій формі доступно, не нав'язливо донесе інформацію до студента, заставить проаналізувати, засвоїти, зробити правильні висновки, обрати необхідні засоби і заходи захисту від впливу шкідливих чинників виробничого середовища і трудового процесу. Програма "Office Explorer" об'єднала в собі всі ці вимоги до комп'ютерних лабораторних робіт і стала незамінним інструментом в засвоєнні знань і практичних навичок з дисциплін "Безпека життєдіяльності" та "Основ охорони праці". Реалізований підхід є найсучаснішим рішенням висвітленої проблеми сучасних заходів навчання та оцінювання знань студентів ВНЗ. Використання цього підходу дозволяє автоматизувати навчальний процес, а також готує майбутнього спеціаліста до умов вирішення реальних проблем. Використання подібних робіт при різних формах навчання дуже важливо і необхідно в сучасних умовах.In the modern world, gaming is widely used as one of the most effective approaches in the teaching. Gaming is used to attract users, increase their interest in solving applied problems. One of the most effective techniques is the business game. In the process of its simulation, the problem situation is determined, and the purpose of the game is to find ways to solve it. Business games are applied both in educational and business spheres. The importance of business games is also that they contribute to the establishment of relations between the teacher and students, which determine the formation of a positive emotional and psychological climate in the classes. The "Office Explorer" work developed and implemented in the educational process is a visual tool in studying the influence of the working environment factors and the working process on the condition of human health and the environment. The Office Explorer program combines all these requirements with computer labs and has become an indispensable tool in acquiring knowledge and practical skills in the disciplines "Security of Life" and "Fundamentals of Occupational Safety". The implemented approach is the most up-to-date solution of the illuminated problem of modern educational measures and assessment of students' knowledge of universities. Using this approach allows you to automate the learning process, as well as prepare a future specialist for the conditions for solving real problems. The using of such works in various forms of training is very important and necessary in the modern conditions

    Identification of multi-faults in GNSS signals using RSIVIA under dual constellation

    This publication presents the development of integrity monitoring and fault detection and exclusion (FDE) of pseudorange measurements, which are used to aid a tightly-coupled navigation filter. This filter is based on an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and is aided by signals of the global navigation satellite system (GNSS). Particularly, the GNSS signals include global positioning system (GPS) and Galileo. By using GNSS signals, navigation systems suffer from signal interferences resulting in large pseudorange errors. Further, a higher number of satellites with dual-constellation increases the possibility that satellite observations contain multiple faults. In order to ensure integrity and accuracy of the filter solution, it is crucial to provide sufficient fault-free GNSS measurements for the navigation filter. For this purpose, a new hybrid strategy is applied, combining conventional receiver autonomous integrity monitoring (RAIM) and innovative robust set inversion via interval analysis (RSIVIA). To further improve the performance, as well as the computational efficiency of the algorithm, the estimated velocity and its variance from the navigation filter is used to reduce the size of the RSIVIA initial box. The designed approach is evaluated with recorded data from an extensive real-world measurement campaign, which has been carried out in GATE Berchtesgaden, Germany. In GATE, up to six Galileo satellites in orbit can be simulated. Further, the signals of simulated Galileo satellites can be manipulated to provide faulty GNSS measurements, such that the fault detection and identification (FDI) capability can be validated. The results show that the designed approach is able to identify the generated faulty GNSS observables correctly and improve the accuracy of the navigation solution. Compared with traditional RSIVIA, the designed new approach provides a more timely fault identification and is computationally more efficient

    Estimates of functional cerebral hemispheric differences in monolingual and bilingual people who stutter.

    Purpose: The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between stuttering and bilingualism to hemispheric asymmetry for the processing and production of language. Methods: A total of 80 native speakers of German were recruited for the study, ranging in age from 15 to 58 years. Out of those 80 participants, 40 participants were also proficient speakers of English as a second language (L2). The participants were organised into four speaker groups (20 per group) according to language ability and speech status, consisting of monolinguals who stutter (MWS), monolinguals who do not stutter (MWNS), bilinguals who stutter (BWS), and bilinguals who do not stutter (BWNS). Each of the four groups comprised 12 males and 8 females. All participants completed a battery of behavioural assessments measuring functional cerebral hemispheric asymmetry during language processing and production. The behavioural tests included (1) a dichotic listening paradigm, (2) a visual hemifield paradigm, and (3) a dual-task paradigm. Results: Overall, the results showed no significant differences in language lateralisation between participant groups on the three behavioural tests. However group differences were identified in regard to executive functions on the visual hemifield and dual-task paradigms. Both bilingual groups showed significantly faster reaction times and fewer errors than the two monolingual groups on the visual hemifield paradigm. The bilingual groups also performed similarly on the dual-task paradigm, while the MWS group tended to show greater task disruption. No meaningful relationship was found between stuttering severity and the majority of results obtained for the test conditions. However, all four language modalities were found to correlate significantly with results obtained for the visual hemifield and dual-task paradigms, suggesting that performance on these tests increased with higher L2 proficiency. Conclusion: Although no differences in language lateralisation were found, it appears that bilingualism had a greater influence on functional cerebral hemispheric processing than stuttering. A prevailing finding was that bilingualism seems to be able to offset deficits in executive functioning associated with stuttering. Brain reserve and cognitive reserve are thought to have a close interrelationship with the executive control system. Cognitive reserve may have been reflected in the present study, resulting in a bilingual cognitive advantage. Hence, the results of the present study lend support to previous findings implicating the benefits of bilingualism

O presente manual pretende ser um instrumento de apoio ao procedimento geral das operações de fim de exercício, apesar da extensão e da profundidade limitarem em muito, uma discussão mais abrangente. Assim, depois da discussão relativa ao enquadramento teórico, segue-se uma breve referência à estrutura concetual da contabilidade e aos normativos contabilísticos em vigor, e em seguida apresentam-se e discutem-se os principais assuntos subjacentes ao tema.Cada año las empresas están obligadas por ley la de rendición de cuentas. This manual intends to support the procedure regarding the year-end operations; however, it also presents a broader discussion concerning other financial accounting issues. Thus, in this work, after the discussion on the theoretical framework and a brief comment on the conceptual framework of accounting and to the financial accounting standards, the main financial accounting topics underlying the theme are analyzed
